Cope
Photography Final
Due to a global pandemic, the world as we know it is changing at a rapid pace. COVID-19 has taken thousands of lives and greatly affected all of us. In an effort to prevent the spread of the virus, there's been a stay-at-home order put in place by the government. Nearly all public spaces are closed, travel is upended and events have been cancelled or postponed.
I have created this series of mixed media photographs to highlight the many different ways people are coping during this unpredictable time in history. Desaturating these photographs takes the life out of them. Then layering vibrant digital illustrations on top helps portray my message and symbolize the worry, chaos, confusion, and many other phases of this virus. Throughout my series, I explore our changing habits and different perspectives. From drowning in mixed information, to overthinking everything, to experiencing personal growth we aren’t even ready to acknowledge, we’re going through it all. This pandemic is out of our control, our only option is to find the best way we cope.
